Hippolyte coerulescens
(Fabricius, 1775)
Distributed in the warmer parts of the Atlantic, associated with hyponeuston (
d'Udekem d'Acoz 1996
). The type locality of
Hippolyte martiali
A. Milne-Edwards, 1891
, a species long placed in the synonymy of
H. coerulescens
, is the Beagle Channel, off Lupataya in southern Patagonia (
A. Milne-Edwards 1891
), with specimens stated to have been collected at
198 m
. We herein follow
Holthuis (1952)
and consider these to be mislabelled specimens, and thus consider the species not to be present in the area of interest.
