The records below from Guatemala and northeastern Mexico considerably extend the known distribution. Biology. No host plants have been reported previously for this species. We reared it in Guatemala from flowerheads of Lycoseris crocata (Bertol.) S.F. Blake ( Asteraceae : Mutisieae ) ( Figs. 119–122 ). Tomoplagia species attack plants in a variety of Asteraceae tribes, but some other species have been reared from Mutisieae ( Prado et al. 2002 ) . Material examined.
