Blacus basitarsis sp. nov. a. male habitus; b. male: anterior view of head; c. male: dorsal view of head; d. female: dorsal view of mesosoma; e. male: lateral view of mesosoma; f. male wings; g. male: dorsal view of propodeum and first tergite; h. female: ovipositor; i. male genitalia. Etymology. The specific name basitarsis was chosen because this species has a very long hind basitarsus. Distribution records. MEXICO (Chiapas, Estado de México , Guanajuato, Guerrero, Michoacán, Morelos, Oaxaca, Puebla and Tamaulipas). Comments. This species is near B. collaris (Ashmead) and B. epitolus Achterberg , and runs to the couplet containing these two species in the key to New World species of Blacus ( Ganychorus ) in Achterberg (1988: 90–92) ; and is also near to B. julianae Sánchez & Figueroa sp. nov. The four species are distingued by the following modified key: 11 Eye length in dorsal view approx. 1.00–1.16X temple length; ovipositor sheath 0.16–0.56X forewing length. 12 - Eye length in dorsal view approx. 1.40–1.60X temple length; ovipositor sheath 0.12–0.14X forewing length .... .............................................................................................................. Blacus ( Ganychorus ) epitolus Achterberg 12(11) Ovipositor sheath 0.16–0.20X forewing length; hind tibia length 9.2–15.14X its maximum width................... 13 - Ovipositor sheath 0.36–0.56X forewing length; hind tibia length 16.00X its maximum width.............................. .................................................................................................................... Blacus ( Ganychorus ) julianae sp. nov. 13(12) Length first tergite 2.27–2.78X its apical width; hind basitarsus length 11.00–11.50X its width; parastigma of male enlarged ........................................................................................... Blacus ( Ganychorus ) basitarsis sp. nov. - Length of first tergite 1.70–2.00X its apical width; hind basitarsus length 9.00X its width; parastigma of male not enlarged ........................................................................................... Blacus ( Ganychorus ) collaris (Ashmead) The male genitalia of B. basitarsis is similar to B. ruficornis and B. julianae , however in B. julianae the apical portion of the aedeagus is wider than the other two species; also in B. julianae the lamina volsellaris has six setae while in B. ruficornis and B. basitarsis there are only three setae.
