Lao Cai : Chapa , 1600 m , July 1927 , P.A.Pételot 5039 ( holotype P03511307 photo!, isotypes P00602496 photo!) . Distribution :—The species is endemic to Vietnam found in ( Lao Cai and Ha Giang provinces, and also in Cao Bang Province (fide Vu 2018 ). Ecology and phenology :—It grows in humid evergreen broad-leaved submontane and montane forests on granite at elevations of 700–1800 m a.s.l. Flowers in February, June–September. Conservation status :—The species is found in Cao Bang , Ha Giang , and Lao Cai provinces of northern Vietnam , with a total area of about 21 000 km 2 . The species is surely strongly habitat-dependent. It lives in submontane and montane forests, which are today significantly impacted by deforestation. Despite the relatively large area of its distribution, the species should be tentatively assessed as Near Threatened according to IUCN (2023) criteria. Additional specimens examined :— VIETNAM .
