Taxonomical, ecological and zoogeographical studies on anisitsiellid water mites (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Anisitsiellidae Koenike, 1910) from Madagascar Author Goldschmidt, Tom text Zootaxa 2008 2008-12-05 1954 1 1 120 https://biotaxa.org/Zootaxa/article/view/zootaxa.1954.1.1 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.1954.1.1 11755334 5240917 Subgenus Dartonia K. Viets, 1929 Diagnosis (modified after Cook 1974 and Panesar 2004 ): Dorsum weakly sclerotized, ventrum without secondary sclerotization; medial margins of Cx-III not meeting anteriorly from genital field, forming medial edges; typically medial suture line of Cx-I about as long as genital field; leg-IV-6 with two or three strong, elongated terminal or subterminal setae; acetabula large, without larger gaps. Remarks: At the present state, this subgenus includes four species from Asia mainly characterized by the number of terminal setae on leg-IV ( Cook 1974 ; Panesar 2004 ). According to Cook (1974) the following N. ( Dartonia ) nifymanana sp. nov. should be placed in the subgenus Dartonia , due to the two heavy sub-terminal setae on leg-IV-6. The system of Panesar (2004) results in the same assignment, additionally supported by the pointed medial margin of Cx-III/IV and the long medial margin of Cx-I.
