Chaetosa punctipes Meigen can be recognized by the following characteristics: postpedicel with acute upper corner ( Fig. 7 ); thoracic pleura greyish dusted; legs wholly yellow; posterior lobes on sternite V with minute spinules on inner parts ( Fig. 8 ); male surstyli slender and tapering apically ( Fig. 9 ); male cercus with 3 long setae beyond surstyli ( Figs 9, 10 ).
