For diagnosis of postlarval forms see Gabryś (1999) . Larva. Gnathosoma with stephanostome, the latter extended dorsally into paired lamellar projections. Palp femur and palp genu with minute setae. Hypostomalae (tritorostral setae, bs ) with finger-like protuberances. Scutum and scutellum present on idiosomal dorsum. Scutum with three pairs of non-sensillary setae and one pair of trichobothria. Antero-lateral flaps of scutum (stolascutum) deflexed, not covered with fimbriae. Scutellum with c1 setae. Plates of d1 and c2 enlarged. fCx=2-1-1. Solenidia on genua I–III extending beyond tibiae. Tarsi I–II terminated with paired claws and claw-like empodium. Tarsus III terminated with modified inner claw (smilum), claw-like empodium, outer claw, scopa and branched, not bifurcate distally, lophotrix. Type species. Microthrombidium geographicum var. intermedium Feider, 1950 , by original designation. Distribution. Western Palaearctic.
