Asynapta mangifera
Felt, 1909
(
Figs 1–3
)
Felt 1909
: 299.
Type
material.
Lectotype
(designated here). Male,
Barbados
, Clapham, 1908, H.A. Ballou, with note probably by Ballou “Mango. Maggots under bark, no galls.” (
NMNH
).
Paralectotypes
.
One male and one female, on separate slides, with the same data as the
lectotype
.
Remarks.
The male
paralectotype
is better preserved than the
lectotype
, but its genitalia are still attached to the abdomen and visible in side view only (
Fig. 3
). In the
lectotype
, the genital apparatus is turned to expose the ventral side (
Gagné 1994: fig. 12; this paper,
Fig. 1
), but the preparation is pale and the aedeagus head is distorted. According to a note by
Barnes (1949: 15)
, other specimens of this species should exist in the Barnes collection in The Natural History Museum, London.
