AUSTRALIA : Western Australia : West Angelas , ca. 105 km WNW. of Newman , 23°07′18.24″S , 118°51′14.52″E , 6 May 2019 , troglofauna scrape, S. Callan ( WAM T149363 ). Diagnosis. Indohya incomperta is a blind troglobite that differs from all other Indohya species for which sequence data are available by three synapomorphies in COI mtDNA: at base 375 there is a substitution to T; at base 377 there is a substitution to A; and at base 628 there is a substitution to C. The single sequenced specimen differs from all other sequenced specimens of Indohya by 16.3–25.2% (Table 2). Description (protonymph). Colour ( Fig. 37 ): very pale, yellow-white. Chelicera: hand with 4 setae, movable finger without seta. Pedipalp: trochanter 2.06 ×, femur 5.41 ×, patella 3.11 ×, chela (with pedicel) 4.45 ×, chela (without pedicel) 4.23 ×, hand (without pedicel) 1.68 × longer than broad, movable finger 1.40 × longer than hand (without pedicel). Fixed finger with 3 trichobothria ( Fig. 38 ), eb , ist and et present; movable finger with 1 trichobothrium, t present; fixed chelal finger with 34 low, juxtadentate teeth and quadrate; movable chelal finger with 11 teeth. Cephalothorax: 0.83 × longer than broad; with 12 setae arranged 4: 0: 4: 2: 2; without furrows; eyes absent. Coxal chaetotaxy 1: 1: 1: 1. Legs: metatarsi and tarsi not fused. Abdomen: tergal chaetotaxy 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4 (including 2 tactile setae): 4 (including 2 tactile setae): 2; sternal chaetotaxy 0: (0) 2 (0): (1) 2 (1): 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 4: 2 (both tactile setae): 2. Dimensions (mm): holotype ( WAM T149363 ). Body length 1.25. Pedipalp: trochanter 0.175 / 0.085 , femur 0.460 / 0.085 , patella 0.295 / 0.095 , chela (with pedicel) 0.690 / 0.155 , chela (without pedicel) 0.655, hand (without pedicel) length 0.260, movable finger length 0.365. Carapace 0.385 / 0.465 . Distribution and remarks. Indohya incomperta has been recorded in subterranean habitats within a single site at West Angelas mine site WNW. of Newman ( Fig. 5 ). The sequence data available for this nymphal specimen demonstrates that it belongs to a distinct species ( Figs. 1–3 ). The species was previously known by WAM identification code Indohya ‘PSE147’. Conservation assessment . Indohya incomperta occurs in subterranean biotopes at West Angelas mine site. The total extent of the subterranean habitat is unknown, and the surface terrain is not heavily dissected or constrained by mesas. It is therefore likely that it’s distribution may extend further into the local area. The species does not appear to meet the status of threatened using the criteria developed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (2012). FIGURE 37. The specific epithet refers to the use of molecular sequence data to establish that this nymphal specimen represents a distinct species ( incompertus , Latin, unknown) ( Brown 1956 ).
