Amblycerus goianiensis Santos & Ribeiro-Costa , sp. n. is very similar externally and in relation to genitalia to A. insuturatus , from which it differs by the frontoclypeal suture distinct (indistinct in A . insuturatus ), cervical boss with four setae (three setae in A . insuturatus ), the last ventrite almost twice as long as the ventrite IV (almost as long as ventrite IV in A . insuturatus ), internal sac of male genitalia in the apical region with a subtriangular sclerites (with a pair of ovoid sclerites in A . insuturatus ), unpaired median subtrapezoidal sclerite (unpaired wishbone sclerite in A . insuturatus ). Description . Measurements . BL: 7.9 mm; BW: 4.6 mm. Integument color ( Figs 14 , 40 , 83 ) . Body red, except by light red antennae. Vestiture ( Figs 14 , 27 , 40 , 53 , 83 ) . Body covered with orange setae. Pronotum and elytra uniformly orange. Scutellum light yellow. Pygidium with median stripe of light yellow. Head ( Fig. 27 ) . Frons covered with fine and moderately dense coarse punctures; without frontal carina. Eyes distant from each other anteriorly, ocular index: 3.0; ocular sinus : 1.3. Postocular lobe 0.3 times the eye length. Antennae reaching anterior margin of hindcoxae; serrated from antennomeres 4–10; antennomere 7 about 1.4 longer than wide, last antennomere subelliptic. Frontoclypeal suture distinct. Clypeus covered with fine and moderately coarse punctures except by a narrow apical area. Labrum with few fine punctures on basal margin. Prothorax ( Fig. 53 ). Pronotum trapezoidal with lateral margins slightly curved, covered laterally by coarse and dense punctures ( Fig. 53 ); lateral carina almost reaching the posterior margin of pronotum; cervical boss with four setae; cervical sulcus conspicuous behind eyes. Prosternal process longer than anterior coxae, gently arched between coxae and slightly constricted between coxae. Meso- and metathorax ( Figs 14 , 40 , 70). Scutellum about 1.5 longer than wide, tridentate in apical margin, median tooth longer than the lateral ones (Fig. 70). Elytra with striae strongly impressed, all free apically ( Fig. 14 ). Metepisternum with moderately coarse and sparse punctures ( Fig. 40 ); metepisternal sulcus with transverse axis gently oblique; the longitudinal axis about half the length of metepisternum. Metaventrite not prominent in lateral view, without punctures and with median sulcus longer than a half the lenght of metaventrite ( Fig. 40 ). Metacoxae with coarse punctures ( Fig. 40 ). Hindtibia with lateral spur about twice the length of median spur ( Fig. 40 ). Abdomen ( Figs 40 , 83 ) . Ventrites without moderately coarse punctures ( Fig. 40 ); last ventrite almost twice as long as the ventrite IV. Pygidium with apical margin rounded and with dense and moderately coarse punctures ( Fig. 83 ). Male genitalia ( Figs 96 , 102 ) . Median lobe of male genitalia about 4.2 times times as long as its greatest width at apical region ( Fig. 96 ). Ventral valve with lateral margins almost straight and acuminate apex. Dorsal valve subtriangular, with lateral margins almost straight, rounded apically. Internal sac in the apical region with a pair of hollow, ovoid, tuberculate sclerites ( Fig. 96 ). Median region with a pair of blades serrate at lateral margin; with unpaired wishbone sclerite. Tegmen with moderate, rounded, emargination between the enlarged lateral lobes ( Fig. 102 ). Female .
