Linnaeus

Systema Naturae
, ed. 12, 2
: 95;
Mantissa Plantarum
: 33. 1767
.
"Habitat in India. Burmannus." RCN: 603.
Lectotype
(Renvoize in Cafferty & al. in
Taxon
49: 250. 2000):
J. Burman s.n.
,
Herb. Linn. No. 90.5 (
LINN
)
, see p. 196.
Current name:
Aeluropus lagopoides
(L.) Trin. ex Thwaites
(
Poaceae
).
Note:
Bor (in Rechinger,
Fl. Iranica
70: 419. 1970) indicated a Burman specimen at L as type, but no relevant material has been traced there. Meikle (
Fl. Cyprus
2: 1846. 1985) and Sherif & Siddiqi (in Jafri & El-Gadi,
Fl. Libya
145: 233. 1988) indicated material at LINN as type, but as they did not distinguish between three possible sheets at LINN, which are not part of a single gathering (Art. 9.15), no effective choice of type was made.
