Diagnostic characters. The superior volsella is small and differs from most species by having a broad and low base bearing 3 inner setae and a slightly curved projection bearing 1 lateral seta. The gonostylus is relatively stout, widest at about middle, with pointed apex. Male (n = 1) A detailed description is provided by Sasa and Ogata (1999) , but the wing membrane lacks macrotrichia.
