On the basis of Verhoeff (1894d) and Akkari
et al.
(2011) the genus
Megaphyllum
was defined by Lazányi
et al.
(2012) as: “Eyes visible, two frontal setae present. Male mandibular stipes with protruding lobe. Openings of the repugnatorial glands small, lying on the suture between prozonite and metazonite, touching the suture distally, metazonital striation present. Preanal process strong and pointed. First male leg-pair forms a hook, second leg-pair with pads on the two penultimate leg-segments. Gonopods protruding, directed posteriorly; basis of gonopods hidden, though not in a really deep gonopod sinus. Promere almost as long as opisthomere. Opisthomere complex, bearing one or more processes. Flagellum well-developed, long and strong.”
