The eastern versant of the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia and Venezuela . In Venezuela the species is distributed in cloud and rainforests of the Cordillera de la Costa and in the eastern Andean versant, or so-called Andean Piedmont. Remarks : Pereyra et al. (2016) found Rhinella sternosignata closely related to the R. margaritifera and R. veraguensis species groups.
