LIBELLULIDAE
Rambur, 1842
The
Libellulidae
comprise the most species-rich group of Anisoptera in the Neotropics. These are the dragonflies that most people see, as many are common pond inhabitants, although a few genera depend on flowing waters for their development. We have recorded 33 genera with 141 named species in
Ecuador
and there undoubtedly will be more species added to the list in future years. One species is endemic to
Ecuador
.
