Acer rubrum L. ( Sapindaceae ), USA , New York, Geneva. Distribution. England (recorded here), Hungary (Ripka & de Lillo 1997 ), Serbia ( Petanović & Stanković 1999 ) and USA (op. cit.) Relation to the host. Originally found in deformed or "pustular" areas in the smooth bark of A. rubrum (red maple) ( Hodgkiss 1913 ), and also recorded on the underside of leaves, causing russeting and drying of leaves ( Batchelor 1952 ). In the British population studied here the mites were found vagrant on the underside of the leaves causing no apparent damage. Collection details.
