Type locality: Brazil , São Paulo, São Paulo (Serra da Cantareira). Holotype male with labels: (1) handwritten on white paper: “ Brazil | Sao Paulo | S. Cantareira | 900m ; XII. 40 [1940] | Travassos”; (2) printed with handwritten inscriptions on red paper: “ HOLOTYPE ɗ | Austrolimnophila | bifidaria | C. P. Alexander”. Preservation: mounted at the tip of a pinned paper triangle. Missing parts: entire body except for the wings and some leg fragments. Additional note: the original description indicates as collectors “Guimarães & Travassos”. This differs from the specimen label which indicates only “Travassos” as the collector.
