Emended diagnosis
.—Tube calcareous, solitary or pseudocolonial, straight to variably coiled or meandering, typically disposed as knots, spirals and tangles; an erect portion may be present. Tube occasionally showing crescentic cavities within the tube wall, and specimens from the Cretaceous and Cenozoic may occasionally show trilobate narrowings of the lumen.
