Lilljeborg (1902) published his synopsis on the freshwater harpacticoid fauna of
Sweden
; however, the material he used for the description of
M.
insignipes
insignipes
was from
Norway
and the species has not been found in
Sweden
. The material was provided by the leading Swedish zoological curator, Gustaf Kolthoff, and it was sampled from a small water body located in the neighbourhood of Porsanger, Finmark county. Later, a more detailed description including drawings of this species was provided by Olofsson (1917), based on the original material of Lilljeborg (1902).
