Lilljeborg (1902): 53 56, type locality Porsanger municipality, Finnmark County, Norway . Lilljeborg (1902) published his synopsis on the freshwater harpacticoid fauna of Sweden ; however, the material he used for the description of M. insignipes insignipes was from Norway and the species has not been found in Sweden . The material was provided by the leading Swedish zoological curator, Gustaf Kolthoff, and it was sampled from a small water body located in the neighbourhood of Porsanger, Finmark county. Later, a more detailed description including drawings of this species was provided by Olofsson (1917), based on the original material of Lilljeborg (1902).
