Type species. Arboricolonus simplex S.Bien & Damm. Etymology. Referring to the life inside tree wood ( arbor Lat. = tree + colonus = settler). Description. Colonies slow-growing, moist, white or buff colours on oatmeal agar medium, lacking aerial mycelium. Sporulation conidia formed on hyphal cells. Conidiophores reduced to conidiogenous cells. Conidiogenous cells enteroblastic, intercalary, reduced to short discrete phialides or, more often, collarettes formed directly on hyphal cells, collarettes short tubular to funnel-shaped. Conidia aggregated around the hyphae, small, hyaline, 1-celled, cylindrical, ovoidal to allantoid. Vegetative hyphae and phialides hyaline, smooth-walled, septate, branched.
