From the generic names Pogonus [ q.v .] and Daptus , alluding to the resemblance of the adults to those of the two genera ("a small species resembling Daptus and somewhat also Pogonus ") [masculine]. Diversity. Two species in southern United States and Middle America (one species) and the West Indies (one species in Haiti). Identification. Darlington (1936c: 205) discussed the structural differences between the two species.
