Distribution.
Belgium
,
Romania
(
Negrobov & Naglis 2016
),
Sweden
(
Persson

) and
Czech Republic
(present paper), The species has most likely a much wider distribution in central Europe (M. Pollet, unpubl. data).
Status in CZ.
The first records are given herein.
Ecology.
Seemingly confined to natural submontane forests in
Bohemia
, where it occurs exclusively on tree trunks, in relatively humid sites. All above listed localities are nature reserves. In
Belgium
, it has also been encountered in lowland humid forests (
Pollet & Grootaert 1987
).
Remarks.
Medium-sized, brownish-black species of the
Medetera signaticornis
–pinicola
species group, with robust legs and fore tarsi slightly shorter (0.8 x) than fore tibiae (
Fig. 9
). The characters of its hypopygium were never described; they appear to be strikingly similar to those of
M. polonica
Negrobov & Capecki, 1977
.
