[“Habitat in Palaestina .”] Sp. PL , ed. 2, 2: 1330 (1763). RCN : 6802. Lectotype (Al-Eisawi in Kew Bull. 41: 371. 1986): Hasselquist, Herb. Linn. No. 1054.12 (LINN). Current name: Anacamptis sancta (L.) R .M. Bateman & al. (Orchidaceae) . Wore : This name appears first in Fl. Palaestina : 29 (1756). However , there it is a nomen nudum as the validating diagnosis merely states “ Orchis sancta , radix desuit in speciminibus” (the root lacking in the specimens). The name dates from 1759, rather than 1763 as suggested by Wood (in Kew Mag. 10: 11. 1993). The type is figured by Baumann & al. ( in Mitteilungsbl. Arbeitskr .. Heim. Orchid. B aden - W iirttem berg21 : 647, Abb. 41. 1989).
