Basonym: Lactobacillus coryniformis Abo-Elnaga and Kandler 1965 , 18 (Approved Lists) L. coryniformis cells are short, coccoid rods, frequently pear-shaped. Pantothenic acid, niacin, riboflavin, biotin and p-aminobenzoic acid are essential for the growth of all or the majority of the strains tested [ 170 ]. Two subspecies are recognized: Loigolactobacillus coryniformis subsp. coryniformis and Loigolactobacillus coryniformis subsp. torquens .
