Salsola vermiculata
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
1
: 223. 1753
.
"Habitat in Hispania." RCN: 1829.
Lectotype
(Jafri & Rateeb in Jafri & El-Gadi,
Fl. Libya
58: 85. 1978): Herb. Linn. No. 315.19 (
LINN
)
.
Current name:
Salsola vermiculata
. (
Chenopodiaceae
).
Note:
Botschantzev (in
Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast.
12: 176. 1975) indicated 315.20 (LINN) as the type. This sheet is annotated "vermiculata L[oefling] 200" by Linnaeus, and lacks the
Species Plantarum
number (i.e.
"4"
) that would ordinarily indicate a collection in
Linnaeus'
possession in 1753.
Linnaeus'
statement "Habitat in Hispania" was probably derived from the cited synonyms rather than this specimen, so the latter is not regarded as relevant original material. Jafri & Rateeb designated 315.19 (LINN) as type which, as it appears to be original material, is accepted here.
