Description:
Antenna in male bipectinate with long rami, outer rami longer than inner rami; filiform in female. Frons green, with upper and lower margins white, mixed with a few red scales; female frons with a round reddish patch at the middle, mixed with green, margins white. Labial palpus with dorsal and lateral surfaces black mixed with white, ventral surface white; the third segment blackish-brown, in female distinctly elongate with white tip; the second segment in female white decorated with sparse reddish scales. Vertex green. Tegula green, with subbasal white patch bordered with red corresponding to costal band of forewing. Dorsal side of thorax and abdomen green; metathorax and the anterior four abdominal segments with small white patches, bordered with reddish-brown scales, very large on the fourth abdominal segment. Hind tibia in male with terminal extension almost of equal length with the first tarsus.
Forewing length:
♀
♂
11.5–
13 mm
. Wing patterns similar to those of
L. subhyalina
. Costal band scattered with more reddish and brown scales, not purely a white band as in
L. subhyalina
. White patches smaller, especially the two patches on vein M
3
, and the antemedial patch on the inner margin.
Third sternite in male with a pair of setal patches. Eighth segment in male modified, tergite with two stout lateral processes, sternite with a pair of widely divided triangular processes.
Male genitalia. Socii long and thin. Gnathos ring-like. Valva short and broad, costa swollen, setose ventrally. Saccus long and narrow. Aedeagus short, mostly sclerotized.
Female genitalia. Sterigma an oval sclerite. Ductus bursae and corpus bursae combined, incrassate.
Diagnosis:
The species is externally similar to
Chlorochromodes albicatena
(Warren) (
India
)
, but the male genitalia obviously belong to a different
type
. Compared to
L. subhyalina
, the costa of the forewing is scattered with many more reddish scales, whereas it is purely white in
L. subhyalina
; the white spots on M
3
, the tornal patch on the forewing, and the white patch on the end of M
3
on the hindwing outer margin are smaller than those of
L. subhyalina
.
The tornal patches on both wings are more rounded, but the one on the forewing is more or less triangular and the hindwing one is elongate in
L. subhyalina
.
The male genitalia are quite similar to those of
L. subhyalina
, but the saccus is longer and the valva is shorter and broader. The male eighth tergite has much shorter lateral branches. The female genitalia are quite different in the two species (
Figs 203, 204
).
