The type specimens deposited in Fuzhou and Beijing were unavailable for study. In comparing with typical Coptocheilus longyanensis from Mt. Gongya ( Figure 2 (a)), the specimen from Mt. Zhufeng has dense crisscross colour bands and a light orangish outer peristome ( Figure 2 (c)), the specimens from Shuyang Village and Zhangji Village have more bulging whorls and more strongly thickened peristome, especially, specimens from Zhangji Village have very small shells (H < 15 mm ) ( Figure 2 (b,d–e)). But in my opinion, these features cannot be diagnostic characteristics of differentiated species in the current research stage. Molecular analysis and morphological study of the soft parts of this species should be conducted to reveal any reproductive differences and that genetic relationship between the typical form and variants from Mt. Zhufeng, Shuyang Village and Zhangji Village. Figure 2. Shells of Chinese Coptocheilus Gould, 1862 . A–E. Coptocheilus longyanensis (Zhou, Zhang & D. Chen, 2009) from Mt.
