USA—South Carolina, 32°50’06”N , 78°36’18”W , 2 males , 2 females (USNM-188445). Recognition characters . Carapace as long as broad, slightly rugose on lateral margin; notch on anterolateral margin. Front broad, projecting downward, with straight margin. Postorbital angle spiniform. Basis-ischium of antenna with serrate spine on mesial margin; merus of antenna with row of unequal spinules on mesial margin. Chelipeds subequal, robust; merus with serrate distal lobe on flexor margin; carpus with 4 spines on flexor margin, 4 prominent, longitudinal, tuberculated ridges; fingers with hiatus, not pubescent. Walking legs robust; propodus with 2 spines on flexor margin, dactylus with 3 spines on flexor margin. Gonopods present in males. Telson composed of 5 plates. Habitat . On calcareous algae and coral reefs bottoms (Veloso & Melo 1993), down to depths of 144 m (Werding 1977). Geographic distribution . Western Atlantic—USA, North Carolina to Mexico , Contoy Island , Veracruz and Quintana Roo; Puerto Rico ; Virgin Island , St. Thomas; Suriname ; and Brazil (from Amapá to Pernambuco).
