Remarks
.
Sakai (2011)
used the genus name
Trypaea
for eight species from the Eastern Pacific Ocean, five species from the North and Western Atlantic Ocean, and 40 species from elsewhere, mostly from the Indo-West Pacific. As
Poore et al. (2019)
and
Robles et al. (2020)
showed, the only species of
Trypaea
is
T. australiensis
Dana, 1852
, restricted to southeastern
Australia
, where it is the most common intertidal estuarine and marine species of callianassid (Poore, 2004). The genus does not occur in the Indo-West Pacific.
