The seven syntypes seen are dry-mounted on a microscope slide, the cover slip ringed by paraffin wax. Most are complete, one male and one female have the heads broken off but present, and some have broken legs and antennae. The other six syntypes from Manjakatompo mentioned by Risbec were not located – it is possible that they are at the MRAC. Risbec’s (1953) spelling of Brachynostemma is an incorrect subsequent spelling, the correct spelling is Brachinostemma . B. sylvaticum has been placed in Inostemma since Brachinostemma and Inostemma were synonymised by Masner (1964b) .
