Previous records on the coast of
São Paulo
include Ubatuba (
Santana
et al
. 2004b
; Hirose 2009;
Colavite
et al.
2016
). This species was recorded in
Brazil
as
Stenocionops furcata
and
Pericera cornuta
(see
Coelho
et al
. 2008
for references). The taxonomic status and the relationship of this species with the congener
S. coelatus
(A. Milne-Edwards, 1878)
and other genera were studied by
Colavite

(2016)
