Material Examined : CNCR20405; number of specimens: 2; SM station; collection date; 16/10/98 . Type locality : New Jersey Distribution : This species has been recorded from Connecticut to Miami ( Ryer & Orth, 1987 ; Kensley & Schotte, 1989 ) and in the Gulf of Mexico ( Kensley & Schotte, 1989 ; Bostroem & Mattila, 1999 ). Range extension : In the Gulf of Mexico , Erichsonella attenuata occurs in Florida, Mississippi and Texas ( Kensley & Schotte, 1989 ; Bostroem & Mattila, 1999 ); however, the presence of E. attenuata at SM inlet extends its geographic distribution into the southwestern Gulf of Mexico Remarks : This species is found from the intertidal zone to 2 m deep, usually associated with submerged seagrass and algal beds in coastal lagoons and bays ( Fredette et al . 1990 ; Kensley et al . 1995 ). The salinity and temperature ranges measured at the site were 24 to 26 %o and 27 to 28 °C, respectively.
