Diagnosis: Habitus as in Fig. 1 . Male terminalia : Ventrite VII ( Fig. 8 ) piriform, with pronounced anterior angles, spiculum gastrale short, firmly and broadly attached to ventrite. Terminal tergite as in Fig. 2 . Female terminalia : Gonocoxite ( Fig. 15 ) rather simple, with outer plate symmetrical, anterolateral condyles small and apical setae short and slender; inner plate without impressions or cavities. Last tergite oval, as in Fig. 16 . Male genitalia as in Figs. 43–44 . Spermatheca : wide, of approximately similar width along its length, spermathecal duct wide and sinuous, as in Figs. 45–46 . Habitat: Perkins (1980) suggested that this species is adapted to lotic environments. In eastern Cuba , it was collected in shallow margins of a wide range of aquatic habitats, from clear permanent running streams ( Fig. 63 ) to standing temporary water bodies with abundant organic matter ( Fig. 60 ). This species is mostly found at low altitudes, ranging from sea level to 100 m a.s.l., although it has also been collected at approximately 770 m a.s.l.
