Homalomena simunii differs from all other species in the genus by the semi-horizontal inflo- rescences, lax pistils, naked interstice between the staminate and pistillate flower zones and by being restricted to basalt ( Kartini et al. 2015a ). Distribution and ecology. Endemic to Sabah . Homalomena simunii occurs in lowland to lower hill evergreen perhumid forest on basalts at elevations between 200 and 390 m .
