Zoo. , CAS . 2016. IV.26 ’ ( IZCAS ). Diagnostic description. Male. Body ( Fig. 3A ) dark reddish-brown, mouthparts and legs paler. Body length 2.33 mm . Head transverse, length from anterior margin of clypeus to base 0.42 mm , width across eyes 0.51 mm . Each eye composed of about 26 facets. Length of eyes ( 0.22 mm ) / length of tempora ( 0.06 mm ) approximately 3.7:1. Length of antennae 1.37 mm ; club ( Fig. 3B ) formed by antennomeres 9–11; antennomere 9 Fig. 3C ) subquadrate, with long semi-membranous apophysis at base on mesal margin; antennomere 10 transverse, obconical; antennomere 11 ( Fig. 3B, 3D ) about 1.4 times as long as wide, with single large and blunt projection at base. Pronotum slightly wider than long, length along midline 0.48 mm , maximum width 0.51 mm . Elytra transverse, length along suture 0.81 mm , maximum width 0.95 mm . Abdomen widest at tergite 1 ( IV ), and narrowing apically; mid-length of dorsally exposed part 0.59 mm , maximum width 0.81 mm . Length of aedeagus ( Fig. 3E ) 0.22 mm ; median lobe slightly asymmetric. Female. Unknown. Comparative notes. Sathytes larifuga is unique in the genus by the form of the basal protuberance of antennomere 11. When combined with the form of the antennomere 9 and its long sub-basal apophysis, it can be readily separated from all other congeners. Distribution. East Malaysia : Sabah . Etymology. The specific epithet ‘ larifuga (a vagabond)’ is a noun in apposition noting that the single available male was attracted by a light trap.
