Comparative notes.
Sathytes larifuga
is unique in the genus by the form of the basal protuberance of antennomere 11. When combined with the form of the antennomere 9 and its long sub-basal apophysis, it can be readily separated from all other congeners.

Etymology.
The specific epithet ‘
larifuga
(a vagabond)’ is a noun in apposition noting that the single available male was attracted by a light trap.
