Notocyrtus dispersus
Carvalho
& Costa, 1992
Discussion.
In the description of
N. dispersus
,
Carvalho
& Costa (1992) stated that males have the pronotum black, except the third lobe which is pale; the ventral side of abdomen with black markings towards the dorsal margin of each segment, pale at the posterior portion of each, and that the color of females is the same as males. However, four specimens examined now, including two
paratypes
, despite having the same pronotal structure, show extensive pale areas in pronotum that form a transversal fascia (Fig. 17). In the key provided by
Carvalho & Costa (1992)
to the species of
Notocyrtus
, the presence of such a transversal fascia would prevent to identify
N. dispersus
as such; therefore, this fact must be kept in mind when using the key.

The examined females have yellowish-orange abdominal sternites, and a few have as well reddish or dark medial bands. Males have large medial dark bands on each sternite.
