Holotype (male): Venezuela : Zulia, Perija National Park, Tukuko, Rio Manantial, gravel margin of stream, elev. 270 m , 9° 50.49' N , 72° 49.31' W , 29 i 2009 , Short, Garcia, Camacho (VZ09-0129-01A). Deposited in the MIZA . Paratypes : Same data as holotype (2 SEMC ). Differential Diagnosis. Dorsal habitus ( Fig. 63 ) similar to H. newtoni ( Panama ) ; differentiated therefrom by the shallower median depression of the metaventrite. The aedeagus of H mauriciogarciai ( Fig. 66 ) differs markedly from that of H. newtoni . Refer also to the diagnosis of H. fasciola . Description . Size: holotype (length/width, mm): body (length to elytral apices) 1.07/0.45; head 0.21/0.28; pronotum 0.27/0.36, PA 0.31, PB 0.32; elytra 0.63/0.45. Dorsum of head piceous; pronotum testaceous; elytra dark brown with small, diffusely margined testaceous macula just posterior to summit of posterior declivity; legs testaceous; maxillary palpi testaceous, tip not darker. Frons punctures larger and denser near eyes, ca. 1xef, than medially; interstices shining, ca. 1xpd laterally, 2– 7xpd medially. Clypeus microreticulate laterally, very finely sparsely punctulate medially. Mentum and postmentum very sparsely very finely punctulate, shining. Genae raised, shining, without posterior ridge. Pronotum weakly arcuate laterally; anterior margin straight behind eyes, emarginate behind frons, scintilla absent; very finely sparsely punctate, punctures on disc ca. 1xpd those medially on frons, interstices strongly shining, 3–9xpd, punctures larger and denser at anterior and posterior; PF1, PF2 and PF4 absent; PF3 shallow. Elytra weakly arcuate laterally; summit of posterior declivity at slightly before midlength; lateral explanate margins narrow; on basal 1/3 punctures ca. 1xpd largest pronotal punctures, punctures becoming finer and more widely spaced toward posterior. Intervals not raised, strongly shining, on basal 1/3 ca. 2–4xpd, as are interstices between punctures of a row, a few punctures subserial. Apices in dorsal aspect conjointly rounded, in posterior aspect margins forming very shallow angle with one another. Ratios of P2 width and plaque shape (P2/w/l/s) ca. 3/1/4/3. P1 not laminate, width ca. 2/3 P2; median carina sinuate in profile. P2 l/w ca. 4/3, sides slightly converging toward blunt apex, apex raised slightly above mesoventral intercoxal process. Plaques narrow, straight, converging toward one another anteriorly, weakly, if at all, raised, located at sides of deep median triangular depression. Metaventrite with very low anteromedian carina and with short longitudinal ridge on each side, extended posteriorly from margin of each mesocoxal cavity. AIS width at straight posterior margin ca. 1x P2. Protibia very slightly arcuate, slender, widest near midlength. Meso- and metatibia slender, straight. Male abdominal apex symmetrical; last tergite with small apicomedian notch. Female (microslide mount, n=1): last tergite sharply rounded, without apicomedian notch, setae long, hair-like, not hooked; gonocoxite not midlongitudinally divided, apical margin sharply rounded, no transverse ridge evident at border of microreticulation; spermatheca type C2. Etymology. Named in honor of the collector, Mauricio Garcia. Distribution. Currently known only from the type locality ( Fig. 199 ).
