Leaves obovate to widely elliptic or ovate,
24 to 60 mm
long and
12 to 36 mm
wide, apex acute to obtuse, base slightly asymmetric, rounded with fragmentary petiole up to
5 mm
long, margin simple serrate, teeth acute, sinuses rounded, venation craspedodromous, midrib strong, moderately often curved, secondary veins thin, straight or curved, alternate, at angles of 30–50°, tertiary veins distinct, alternate percurrent, straight to convex, rarely forked, venation of higherorders regular, polygonal reticulate, areolation distinct or moderately developed, 3- or 4-sided.
Similar oak foliage has also been assigned to
Q. drymeja
UNGER
(e.g.,
Kvaček et al. 2002
) but for more accurate determination of the fossil species additional epidermal characteristics are needed (
Kvaček and Walther 2012
).
