Remarks
Besch (1963a)
synonymized
Limnesia patagonica
with
L. minuscula minuscula
Ribaga
, but this was not followed by
Cook (1980
,
1988
). The specimens from this study have separated first coxal plates, and their IVleg6 have six swimming setae. Therefore it is assigned to
L. patagonica
. Subspecies of
L. minuscula
with swimming setae on IVleg6 have fused first coxal plates. The specimens collected by
Cook (1980)
have 24 swimming setae on IVleg6.
