( Fig. 22 ) Platyretus albosignatus Distant, 1918: 38 . Material examined. INDIA : Syntype ( Platyretus albosignatus Distant ), Darjeeling ( BMNH ) . Remarks. This species looks similar externally to the figures of Scaphoideus varius Vilbaste (1968) from Russia , given by Lee (1979) , of which the line drawing habitus figure was originally produced in the description of S . hongdoensis Kwon & Lee from Korea . Presumably therefore, the un-stated synonymy of S . varius and S . hongdoensis in Lee (1979) dates from that publication. Both sets of male genitalia figures are the same. Strangely, none of the references in Kwon & Lee’s 1978 paper (including Vilbaste’s) appear in the text of their paper, suggesting perhaps that the paper was extracted from a larger work.
