Remarks.
The genus
Zachaenus
Cope, 1866
was synonymized with
Cycloramphus
Tschudi, 1838
by
Dubois
et al.
(2021: 686)
. However,
Dubois
et al.
(2021)
failed to observe that, in proposing the synonymy, two valid species names were now secondary homonyms,
viz
.,
Cycloramphus carvalhoi
(
Izecksohn, 1983
“1982”) and
Cycloramphus carvalhoi
Heyer, 1983
, as pointed out by
Segalla
et al.
(2021: 124)
. Since
Cycloramphus carvalhoi
(
Izecksohn, 1983
“1982”) has priority as the senior homonym, the species described by
Heyer (1983)
required a
nomen novum
(see below).
