Webster, regenerating mixed forest, sweeping foliage in brushy opening (1, RWC). Collection and habitat data. This is a polyphagous species reported from hosts in 13 families ( Clark et al. 2004 ). Cryptocephalus venustus was collected by sweeping foliage in an old field with sandy areas, a small old-field opening in a mixed forest, and in a brushy opening within a 20-year-old regenerating mixed forest. Adults were captured during July and August. LeSage (1986) successfully reared the larvae of this species on a mixture of dead leaves of Alnus , Rubus , Salix , and Vaccinium spp. Distribution in Canada and Alaska.
