Scutigera simplex Haase Typus ! MG 14455 Sidney; Label 2. Scut . [ foroeps Rat.] (pencil). Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960) , p. 61, No. 4. Holotype . Taxonomic remarks. The taxonomic status of Scutigera simplex is still uncertain ( Bonato et al. 2016 ). Pocock (1901) tentatively proposed it to be a synonym of Scutigera maculata (Newport, 1844) (now Allothereua maculata (Newport, 1844) . Note that Pocock gave the type locality as Adelaide which is a lapsus. Collection remarks. The specimen belonged to the private Museum Godeffroy in Hamburg . No collector is given on the labels but the specimen was almost certainly collected by Eduard Dämel (1822–1900) who sampled extensively in the Sydney region from 1852 to 1858. Current systematic position. Junior synonym of Allothereua maculata (Newport, 1844) according to Pocock (1901: 452) .
