Type material (1, MNHN ): Lectotype male with labels: 1, “Madre d. Dios / S.O Peru ” “ type ” “ diosanus / n sp” “ HOLOTYPE ” “ Bruchus / diosanus / Pic / det. 75 / J.M.Kingsolver” “Museum Paris / Coll. M. Pic” “ Sennius diosanus / (Pic, 1930) / det J. H. Viana 2014” “ Lectotype / Bruchus diosanus Pic, 1930 / design. J. H. Viana”. Remark. In the original description, Pic does not indicate the number of specimens studied. The labels of the type specimen received from MNHN are identical to the data given in the original description ( Pérou ) and also with Pic’s handwritten label " type " and " diosanus Pic ". The type material of Bruchus diosanus , here designated as a lectotype , is in poor condition with little pubescence remaining. However, it was possible to study the male genitalia and here this species is here treated as Sennius diosanus ( NEW COMBINATION ) based mainly on the character: internal sac of male genitalia with hinge sclerites.
