Not available from Rossmaessler (1854), to whom Pallary referred, because Rossmaessler did not use the term " elatior " to denote a species-group taxon but only cited Ferussac's (1823) description of an unnamed variety of Melanopsis dufourii . Pallary briefly described the taxon (by indicating its size) and therefore made the name available.
