Description.
See D’Incao &
Silva (1992)
.
Remarks.
In some small males and females individuals of
S. meloi
the carapace anterolateral teeth may be very low and almost indistinct; the first (exorbital) and the second anterolateral teeth may be coalesced into a single lobe or fused basally only, in which case the exorbital tooth is acute, whereas the second anterolateral tooth is rounded at tip; the granulation density in the pterygostomian region is somewhat variable. The punctations and the rows of setae in the P1 propodus are more evident in small individuals than in larger ones.
Contrary to
Brandão
et al
. (2010)
the anterior margin of the sterno-abdominal cavity in
S. meloi
(fig. 5E) is more densely granular than in
S. amazonicus
(fig. 5A).
Distribution.
Brazil
(Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul), in muddy sand bottoms, at depths between 21 and
122 m
.
