Remarks
. Orlova-Bienkowskaja & Volkovitsh (2014) suspected that
A. convexicollis
recently expanded its range in central European
Russia
as a response to the invasion of
A. planipennis
resulting in the decline and mortality of ashes. This judgment seems premature. Though the decline of ashes definitely makes suitable conditions for
A. convexicollis
, the new regional records from
Russia
are more likely consequences of increased focus on the field survey of
A. planipennis
.
The range of many European
Agrilus
was recently updated eastwards due to new records from historically poorly surveyed regions.
Agrilus
convexicollis
is a common species in Europe wherever ash occurs. The species is frequently overlooked due to the small size and preferring upper crown parts. Appropriate collecting techniques like sweeping crowns with long telescopic net or rearing adults from infested branches are most efficient monitoring methods.
