The other seven Cromerus are found in SE China , Indonesia (Java), Philippine Islands (Samar and Mindanao), and Australia (Queensland). Cromerus excelans Drake (1953) is very close to C. invarius , but may be slightly smaller, with occipital spines shorter. All other characters are similar. As noted by Péricart (2000) , the genus is in need of a major revision, as all the species described are very similar.
