Comments: Known only from the

. This is the only species of
Cromerus
Distant
inhabiting New
Guinea
. The other seven
Cromerus
are found in SE
China
,
Indonesia
(Java),
Philippine Islands
(Samar and Mindanao), and
Australia
(Queensland).
Cromerus excelans
Drake (1953)
is very close to
C. invarius
, but may be slightly smaller, with occipital spines shorter. All other characters are similar.
As
noted by
Péricart (2000)
, the genus is in need of a major revision, as all the species described are very similar.
