Genus:
Karataumantispa
Jepson, 2015
Type species:
Karataumantispa carnaria
(
Khramov, 2013
)
Revised diagnosis
(after
Khramov, 2013
;
Jepson, 2015
): Differs from other mesomantispines by the combination of the following characters: forecoxa and trochanter slender, forefemur length to width ratio (at widest part) is approximately 4, foretibia and foretarsus combined, longer than forefemur; foretibia with large hooked prostrate setae. Forewing: RA and RP curving towards wing apex at an angle (after the bend of Sc); RP with 6–7 branches; MP forked deeply, slightly distal to fork of M; CuP deeply forked not pectinate. Colour pattern represented by very small spots: consisting of 3–4 small dots in M and Cu area.
Comparison.
Differs from
Archaeodrepanicus
,
Sinomesomantispa
,
Clavifemora
,
and
Mesomantispa
in RA and RP being curved towards wing apex at an angle [RA and RP appear almost horizontal in these genera], and non-pectinate deeply forked CuP. Differs from all other genera in having a deeply forked MP [MP simple in other genera]. Further differs from
Archaeodrepanicus
,
Sinomesomantispa
,
and
Clavifemora
in having the foretibia and foretarsus combined being longer than the forefemur. Differs from
Clavifemora
and
Ovalofemora
gen. nov.
in having a slender forefemur [
Clavifemora
: greatly enlarged, club like;
Ovalofemora
gen. nov.
: elongate, oval]. The presence of large hooked prostrate setae on the foretibia separates it from all other genera except
Ovalofemora
gen. nov.
and
Longicolllum
gen. nov.
(forelegs however, are not known in
Mesomantispa
). Differs from
Longicollum
gen. nov.
in having only a slightly elongate pronotum, 1.1x longer than wide [
Longicollum
gen. nov.
has a very elongate pronotum].
Remarks.
Originally
Karataumantispa
also included the species
K. monstruosa
(
Khramov, 2013
)
, however this species was only tentatively placed in the genus by
Jepson (2015)
, it has now been removed from
Karataumantispa
(herein).
