Revision of the leafhopper tribe Krisnini (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Iassinae) of the Indian subcontinent Author Viraktamath, C. A. text Zootaxa 2006 1338 1 32 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.174332 5b8953f7-059d-4f6a-9bba-dddc1e4b2ddb 1175-5326 174332 Krisna veni sp. nov. Figs 97–100 Ochraceous with reddish brown tinge. Eyes chocolate brown. Male abdominal terga 1–4 and sterna 2 and 3 with well developed apodemes. Male genitalia : Pygophore with ventral process arcuate, with elongate oblique furrow in middle section, expansion less prominent dorsal margin with dilation showing a cavity ( Fig. 100 ) surface with ridges. Apopysis style of type 1. Aedeagus with short preatrium, having almost straight ventral margin; aedeagal shaft in lateral aspect with rather straight dorsal margin, distal 0.25 upturned, narrower with transverse rugae, in caudal aspect basal half of shaft broader than apical region with a constriction in middle. Measurements : Male 10.5 mm long, 2.4–2.5 mm wide across eyes, 2.9–3.2 mm wide across hind margin of pronotum. Material examined : Holotype ď, India : West Bengal: Sukna, 500ft ( 152 m ), E. Himalayas, 1.vii. [19]08,N. A[nnandale] ( BMNH ). Paratype 1 ď, India : West Bengal: Margherita, W. Doherty, 9050/8 ( BMNH ). FIGURES 97–100. Male Krisna veni sp. nov. 97. Aedeagus, lateral view; 98. Same, Caudal view. 99. Ventral pygophore process. 100. Pore on the ventral pygophore process near apex. Remarks : K. veni can be readily recognized by its dorsal margin of aedeagal shaft being almost straight in basal 0.75; the ventral margin of the preatrium is also straight. The shape of the ventral pygophore process of the paratype male is slightly different, being much wider basally and more pointed distally; however, the aedeagus is similar except that the apical 0.25 region is slightly narrower than in the holotype . The species K. bakeri , K. delta and K. veni form a very close-knit group of species of Krisna considering the shape of the aedeagus and ventral pygophore process. However, they differ in the detailed structure of the aedeagus.
